This course provides a fun introduction to writing poetry, encouraging an appreciation of the work of many different poets and the wide variety of forms they use. We will be exploring different forms in our own poetry, from acrostics to haikus, shape poems to ballads. We will look at how we can use rhythm and rhyme and other devices such as metaphor and alliteration. Our writing will cover a whole range of subject matter, from everyday objects to seasons, animals, nature and imaginary worlds. At the end of the course we’ll put together a booklet of some of the poems that have been written.
As part of the course you will receive a materials pack.
