With tutor Alison Cockcroft

This course provides an introduction to collage using a range of found materials such as: newspaper, magazines, old tickets, packaging, sweet wrappers and even 3D objects. We look back to the artists who pioneered the technique at the start of the 20th century and up to its important role in contemporary art, design and illustration. Collage is the most accessible of art forms as all you need is a pair of scissors, glue, whatever scraps are to hand and a willingness to play and have fun. Each week will focus on a different collage technique, using art movements and artist’s work as inspiration.
